So we had a long breakfast with lots of talking and planning about what we were going to do today. Since we had cracked a the last of Gotlands mystery caches yesterday night together with Anna, we decided that it might be a nice time to get them. So, after breakfast, we all jumped into the RV and set sails towards the Lärbro area, to pick off the Sommarlov cache.
But before we got there we visited Bro church. A beautiful church among Gotlands, 100 and some churches.
A stop at the beautiful Hångers källa - Hångers natural spring, where Swedens most loved sång has been written, Den blomstertid nu kommmer...
Then it was lunch time - and we decided to have a speciall lunch at Sjökrogen (The Sea Tavern) or Kajkanten (The Edge of the Docks) in Valleviken, as it's called at lunch time. It's a beautiful place and they have exclusive and very tasty food.
We shared a platter of smoked prawns with aioli as a starter and then varm-smoked (cured) salmon with new potatoes and a herb sauce. It was really yummy! I'd recommend it highly and I'm sure the Sjökrog, that serves dinner, is just as nice if not nicer. Sure, it ain't cheap, but it's well worth it.
After lunch we passsed by KMG Design in Rute and checked out the beautiful Linnen clothes that they make.
A quick stopp at Rute Stenugnsbageri (Rute Stone Oven Bakery) to pick up some cakes and cookies for later, when we were going to visit Annas parents, Ingrid & Calle in Lickershamn.
On the way there we picked off a few, on-the-way-caches. Lärbo church (for Anna) and we also passed by Elinghem Ödekyrka/chruch-ruin. Another one of those places that are very tranquille and serene, except for the millions of mosquitos eating you alive.
Then we went to Lickershamn to Ingrid & Calle. Ingrid is my dad's aunt and we try to visit them every summer, in their summer house. Also visiting them is my dad's cousin, Inger, whom I almost never see. We had a really nice time there and reminised about the oldern days =) I got to hear a few stories about my dad that I hadn't heard previously - and that's always nice. Isn't this the cutest candle stand you've ever seen?
Every year Ingrid & Calle have done some improvments on the house and this year they had installed a shower and finnished the upstairs. It's fun to see how the house grows.
Then we made our way back to Visby via a grocery store to pick up some pique-nique food and then to Nordegravar - an area north of the citadel, where they used to bury their dead in the middle ages. It's been the locations for the Medival Fairs largest gathering - the Fire Show set up by the performers TRiX, it's been one of the staples of the Fair for the last 10 years and it's always insanly visited and loved. Unfortunely we came somewhat late, it starts at 10 p.m., but apperently you have to be there at 4 p.m. for the good seats. But it was brilliant! Next year, I'll make sure we're there at 4, cause I'd love to see it from the "good" seats now that I've seen it from the "not so good seats". HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
So here follows pictures that Andy took during the show - and if I can I'll upload a video soon.
It was a brilliant night in Visby...
