I really do like this coffee table. It is very mutli-functioning. The fact that you can raise some parts to be able to eat or use a laptop computer at a more correct level, insead of bending down over a coffee table. Also there is quite a bit of storage in the table too and that I love! The coffee table can be found at BoConcept and the price is 5,799 kr or about $900 - which is quite steep for a coffee table. But it is quite cool - for a chique modern appartment...

Letters and numbers
I'm one of those people who really dislikes things or object that only have one use - you know garlic presses, olive spoons or other such single use objects. But in this case I have to make an exception. These Letter and Number Ice Trays from The Spoon Sister. These trays are made from silicone and can be used in the micro, the freezer or the oven - I guess that is why I don't utterly think they are stupid ;-)
I just love the idea to be able to make I love you breakfast muffins for my finance or Happy birthday jello letters for the birthday cake. Oh or for valentines day, you can make cute brownie messages... Yep, I'm a child I know... And obviously there is a tray for numbers... The set of Letters and Numbers can be bought for $29.90 and the dollar being low it's pretty cheap.
Tres chic
There is a problem with being a non-celebrate wife and future mother - the fact that when designing your house you aren't allowed to use all the little girly details that you want. All the ladies out there know exactly what I mean, no pink frilly things, no cute pink wallpaper or anything that can be seen as non-macho - incase any of the males in the family bring home other males - yeah you know exaclty what I mean - there will be snickering and other such stupid behavior.
Oh, I just thought of something - when I get my walk in closet - that is WHEN and not IF (Andy, make sure you read this part well ;-) ) I could use these shower curtains there, if they are made of fabric - you might not even notice that they are actually shower curtains. They could be instead of doors on a closet or as the curtain in front of a fitting area (if there will be one of those) anyways... It can be used for many things.
So now lets say that, for the fun, that I'd have full designing power in the house then first off I'd have these very very cute shower curtains in my bathrooms. They are both very girly and should be a part of every girls bathroom - with other pink fluffy things. One with dresses and the other with accessories.
Ok, you all see what I mean now right? They are really quite adorable. I'm unsure about who has made them, I'm unsure how Bed Bath & Beyond works, being a non-American, if they make their own product or if the "buy" them from other producers.

Tetris
I found this cool and inovative bookshelf at Inhabitat. It's smart since the bookshelf can be built and rebuit in many different shapes and forms - just like tetris cubes. I like the shape both to the left and right, since they both give you lots of cubby hole and designing capabilities. I'd like to use the bookshelf as a room divider - It makes a room into two different rooms but it's still spacious and great.

One lump or two?
Mycket fina teglas. Pall/Stool
... denna pall... helt genialisk.
This padded stool from BoConcept is genious. It can be converted to an extra bed for overnight guests. I don't really understand why this is the first that I'm seeing of such a design, because it is really brilliant. The only down side is that it weighs about 78 kg and isn't the most movable piece of furniture. It comes in lots of different colors and materials and can be matched with a sofa in a den or even living room.
Can be bought at BoConcept for 3,297 kr or about $500.

Mono-use Monday: Pb mixer
I'm a avid believer in having only things that have several uses in my house, that said, no objects with "mono-use" or single uses.
It is something that Andy and I have started working on together, to make sure that we don't have a bunch of stuff that just stands around, except for twice a year.
An example of this is Christmas "snaps" glass, garlic press, ice cream maker... you get my drift...
Before buying an object I always ask myself a couple of questions:
1. Do I really need this?
2. Does it have several purposes/uses?
3. Do I have anything that can be used for the same purpose?
4. Will it make my life so much better so that it will outweigh the hassle of having it standing around?
Browsing the Internet I've found lots and lots of these objects and as a small continuous project on the blog I thought I would share them with you on Mondays, and call it "Mono-use Mondays".
First out: Peanut Butter Mixer
So the idea is, once you open a jar of pb, you remove the old lid and put this one on instead. Then next time you use the pb, you whisk it around a couple of times, and the pb is fresher and more gooey, instead of separated and oiley.
Well, I can't really see any kind of use for this gadget since it is just as easy if not easier to use a knife
1. you can see what's actually going on in the jar,
2. cause you only have one utensil to clean and,
3. cause it'll cost you $10.00 for the same thing that a already owned knife can do.
Reading up on this gadget it seems to me that apparently the pb always separates, but I've never seen that? I don't know if it's cause I always store my pb in the fridge or that Skippy's doesn't separate.
Anyways, a Peanut butter mixer seems like a really "mono-use" gadget. It will never enter my house...

Wood
Oh I just love this wooden carved plate from Ellos. It just screams my name. It's made from Mangotree and it'll be perfect to have as a fruit bowl or a cookie platter. Also I'd love to have it to use as for candle arrangement. It's on sale right now at Ellos for 149 kr, regular price 199 kr. But since I don't really need or want anything else from there right now I'll just have to wait to buy it.
This is a real Me wantie :)

Door to Hell
The Door to Hell, in Darvas in Turkmenistan, is an underground cave found 35 years ago by geologist searching for natural gas. They found the cave filled with a poisinous gas, which they lit in the thought that the gas would burn out. The gas is still burning til today...Cool Huh?
It´s a mans world...
A man was sick and tired of going to work every day while his wife stayed home. He wanted her to see what he went through so he prayed: 'Dear Lord: I go to work every day and put in 8 hours while my wife merely stays at home. I want her to know what I go through. So, please allow her body to switch with mine for a day. Amen!'
God, in his infinite wisdom, granted the man's wish. The next morning, sure enough, the man awoke as a woman.
He arose, cooked breakfast for his mate,
Awakened the kids,
Set out their school clothes,
Fed them breakfast,
Packed their lunches,
Drove them to school,
Came home and picked up the dry cleaning,
Took it to the cleaners And stopped at the bank to make a deposit,
Went grocery shopping,
Then drove home to put away the groceries,
Paid the bills and balanced the check book.
He cleaned the cat's litter box and bathed the dog.
Then, it was already 01 P.M.
And he hurried to make the beds,
Do the laundry, vacuum, Dust,
And sweep and mop the kitchen floor.
Ran to the school to pick up the kids and got into an argument with them on the way home.
Set out milk and cookies and got the kids organized to do their homework.
Then, set up the ironing board and watched TV while he did the ironing.
At 4:30 he began peeling potatoes and washing vegetables for salad, breaded the pork chops and snapped fresh beans for supper.
After supper,
He cleaned the kitchen,
Ran the dishwasher,
Folded laundry,
Bathed the kids, And put them to bed.
At 09 P.M . He was exhausted and, though his daily chores weren't finished, he went to bed where he was expected to make love, which he managed to get through without complaint.
The next morning, he awoke and immediately knelt by the bed and said: 'Lord, I don't know what I was thinking. I was so wrong to envy my wife's being able to stay home all day. Please, oh! Oh! Please, let us trade back. Amen!'
The Lord, in his infinite wisdom, replied: 'My son, I feel you have learned your lesson and I will be happy to change things back to the way they were. You'll just have to wait nine months, though. You got pregnant last night.'

Seletti
The Italian design company Seletti has a lot of lovely products on their webpage. New and inovative ideas. I found a few favorites that I thought I'd share with you.
The Bean-Bag sofa seems lika a perfect extra sofa for the den or a TV room or why not as an extra bed for a childrens bed. It is probably not the most comfortable to sleep in but probably works as an extra bed for a night or a few. But as a sofa I believe it will be awesome.
The drink dispenser is a must have for summer parties. Fill it upp with watrmelon daiqauri or Mojito and large amounts of ice. The guest will be able to take as much as they choose and it is just a perfect summer addition. Even for just the family, to fill upp with water for hot summer days. I like the fact that it is made in glas also - it's just a bit more chique than plastic.

Oh where oh where has the time gone...
I love this awesome wall mounted clock, that you can make in whichever size and shape you want. The only thing that limits you is your imagination. The only restriction you have is that the hands and clock work has to be somewhere in the middle. I'm not sure if I think it is worth $ 200, because it should be pretty eazy to make yourself. The other day when Andy and I were in Södertälje, we saw a similar clock for about 200 SEK or about $30 something dollars - and we are seriously considering buying it. The only problem is where to put it and having the problems we are having right now with our housing issues, we don't really know where we will be living in about a month - since we have so many choices. But since it is really cheap it is still worth buying and then later finding the perfekt place for it. Another thought is to buy a clock work and hands and then make the clock by my self. The upside is that you are able to make it which ever color you choose. The only issue is that I don't know where to buy the clock work or the hands. Do any of you know?

Badrumsrenovering/Bathroom renovations
The bathroom renovation is continuing and now the bubbelbath tub is in the bathroom. Not really connected or usable, but it is a start...

Since the rain has been pouring down all day, today is spent fixing and cleaning the house. We are in some dire need to get all our ducks in a row, but it all takes time - precious precious time... Altough I'm taking a small break, while the others work, to make an excel spreadsheet with adresses and other good to have information - and I asure you it ain't as fun as it sounds .
Have a lovely saturday!

EFIT - 27/8 2008
This months EFIT - translated from Swedish is One Photo an Hour - was yesterday and the point is to show hoe you day has been in photographs, which basically means taking one photo an hour - or something to that effect...
Så här såg min dag ut... / This is my day in pictures...
Varning för många bilder! Be warned - Lots of pictures!
7.54 am - The day started off by me unfoldning a new shirt for Andy
8.46 am - Organizing my calender, things that have been done, that should be done and other important things to remember. Obviously I use lots of different colors to make it more enjoyable...
9.14 am - Time to get on with todays to do's.
10.27 - Lite chai gör datanördandet lite lättare.
10.27 am - A need for some Chai.
11.52 am - On a hunt for wasps that have infiltrated my room.
12.09 pm - Rummeging trough our storage to find good to have things.
13.35 - Lite tvätt hann vi med
1.35 pm - Some laundry needed to be washed and hung.
2.21 pm - Some more packing, mom and dads clothes, for the big Move. (Unfortunetly the picture is shaky, since the camera didn't really want to be my friend and the shutter speed was really low.)
3.38 pm - Off to the shops for some groceries for tonights make-shift crayfish party.

Out with the old in with the new…

- Dela upp väskorna i:
